Textbook Plantery is a small-batch hydroponic in Durham, North Carolina. We combine cutting-edge lighting tech with vertical growing to produce an unapologetically superior basil that elevates experiences and inspires dishes.

The Method

 

Basil is basil, right?

Wrong.

What if you meticulous cultivated an heirloom variety and gave it the optimal conditions to thrive: a specific light spectrum, control of salinity, humidity, water temperature, and pH levels.

The result is a gastronomic experience of producing the most aromatic, ultra-fresh basil that reminds you of the old country.

Our heirloom genovese basil is grown vertically. Cultivated in a soilless medium and combined with the latest LED lighting, we use 80% fewer resources than field-grown basil.

Carefully pruned and cultivated over several weeks, our basil seedlings are constantly monitored to produce a floral, bright basil with notes of clove and anise.
